Quotes

Alfred Lord Tennyson - 'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Kezia - Oftentimes we say goodbye to the person we love without wanting to. Though that doesn’t mean that we've stopped loving them or we've stopped to care. Sometimes goodbye is a painful way to say I love you.

Socrates - The hottest love has the coldest end.

Anonymous - If you love something, set it free; if it comes back it's yours, if it doesn't, it never was.

someone - Ah singleness, my old friend. Come what may, I still have you. Wrap your cold bitterness around me and hold me in the stony greyness of days without dreams.

---

It's not quite as bad as all that, but writing and hyperbole makes me feel better.

Bummer. Still, I am glad your heart is only dented, not broken and bleeding.

I'm using hammers to knock the dents out and a bit of duct tape to patch the cracks.

wow, I expected a different post. But rest assured, it's not the haircut's fault :)

When love finally does come around you'll count your lucky stars that Danmark ended this way.

Did you get to see the mermaid?

I Dive At Night said...

I didn't see the mermaid, but I did see the 'new harbour' and heard the story of the mermaid. As it was explained to me, apparently the decisions she makes for love end up being her demise. Hmmm.

The moral of the story is "When in doubt, stay in the pool."

Oh, and I wasn't expecting this post either. It was percipitated by events from Monday, not Copenhagen.

Gosh, my sympathy and sarcasm are at war.

In the dance of affection, the graceful never get to the punchbowl.

Yeah, I was pretty sure how that would work itself out.

Doug, I need more curmudgeon in my life. I'm normally a realist but when too many optimists gang up on me stupid things happen.

You should hear the story!

Morgan, how do you think I got this way? Consider yourself warned.

(Although my mother says I curdled her milk)

Warned?!? So it's not inevitable?

(No whey!)

Doug The Una said...

Brother, I hope not. (Sweet)

So in much the same way that Steve Irwin died from a stingray and not a crocodile, perhaps my downfall might not be brought on by a woman?

Doug The Una said...

No man's downfall is caused by a woman. It's always an optimist who strikes the mortal wound.

Where I grew up the local "Optimist Club" ran the baseball league. I don't see why they were so optimistic because every week precisely one-half of all the kids in the league LOST.

Doesn't sound good, but don't give up hope, the right person will come along sometime. On to more mundane things...did you get your passport yet? The whole thing sounds like my adventure of trying to get Spanish citizenship. The paperwork is crazy, expensive, and half the people don't know what they are supposed to be doing. One of these days I'll do a post on it, but I'm kind of afraid I'll jinx the whole process, which is iffy as it is.

Oh Theresa, I guess my posts on my residence permit were before your time here? My last 1 year permit took me 18 months to get. Thank goodness I'm on a 5 year permit now!

Thanks for the reminder to call the embassy!

Theresa you too?
Mine is hopefully gonna be Icelandic though :)

Minka, you three? I leave shortly to pick up the latest version of my Canadian one. It's good for 5 years so I hope my next time through this process is for a Dutch one.
