The moment of anticipation. Last night was the best of it, with that sense of having time to relax and yet imminently about to leave for an adventure.
Today is different. My flight leaves late... almost midnight. I've got tons of time to relax still, but can't. Today is the day I fly! I've got to leave from here to the airport. And even though the leaving part is many many (like 8) hours away, I can't relax the day I have to fly.
I'm making lists and checking them thrice. All the important stuff got packed days ago but what of the little things? Should I bring a spare X? How much do I want to carry on my back to avoid overweight charges? Is everything packed so it's safe from drops and breakage?
My mind is buzzing at a time I should be sleeping. I hoped to sleep late and "store up" as much sleep as possible before the nightmare flight. (The flight is almost 10 hrs long and drops me there at 4am.) But I'm awake. Wide awake. And with hours to go before my flight. Uhg.
See you in June!

I love to fly. I'll trade you places. The longest flight I've ever been on was 18 hours. I watched two movies and had a nice long nap. The worst problem I had at the end of the flight was convincing my legs they could hold me after all that inactivity.
Relax, dream of gliding through clear seas, and have a wonderful time.
Thanks Quilly. My longest was 16 hours and this will be my 32nd time across the Atlantic. Alas, I've never ever slept in a plane. (Or moving car, etc., etc.) My hardest part will be keeping my legs still after the first 6-8 hours.
Have a good flight. I hate flying and have never slept on a plane either. The longest for me was around 8 hours, way too long for me.
Travel safe, if bored. If you can't sleep then a bit of meditation could be interesting. And have fun in Bonair!

Oh, heck, Morgan...I keep thinking you've landed and you've only been up an hour and 45 mins. Flap your arms faster. My genes don't allow sleep on moving vehicles. Sorry. Meditation sounds good. With the lag and no sleep, I guess, you won't dive on Sunday. Hurray, we'll be on the same time. Talk to you about noon, if you're not asleep...........Mom
Silly me...Of course you'll dive Sunday because, I know, you dive at night. (smiles and more smiles).........Mom
No doubt in my mind you're in the water as soon as possible, it just draws those of us who are divers inside and out, we can't help it !
Hope it's a grand voyage.
Actually, the plane landed at 3am local time. My course started 8am, 4 hours after checking into the hotel. We did an orientation in the classroom and hit the water straight away. I got 2 hours sleep and a breakfast in. Thought I was going to feed that breakfast to the fish for the first few hours.
But the voyage was truly grand!
Good deal, Morgan. Welcome home.
