Wow, I'm so glad I went to Copenhagen! The whole experience, from the work and coworkers through to the weekend, people and partying was all positive. But now I'm home and after one sleep I've awoken with a killer cold.
But besides germy, Denmark was a blast. Even the calm, mature and professional part Thursday and Friday with colleagues was fun. Just check out the picture from the Copenhagen Ice Bar. The bar is made of ice. The walls are made of ice. The glasses they serve the drinks in are made of ice. (Ironically if you ask for ice in your drink they can't oblige.)
And to go with the blue parkas and fuzzy hoods, I offer you the following video. There was a moment when I realized that our fur-lined hoods looked much like a Muppet. And (perhaps due to the numerous vodka drinks) I couldn't resist singing a little song. It immediately became a chorus and ended up looking much like this video.

Sick, Home, Tired, and Smiling

I can see a slight resemblance between the photo and the video. I imagine with alcohol it must have been uncanny..and not to mention quite entertaining!
And I can tell you why the mahna mahna guy leaves at the end. Turns out there are no washrooms in the Icebar... you have to go "outside" to the adjoining hotel for that. And at -5C some times there isn't time to finish the whole song.
The 3 of you in blue look like the "Mogan Tabarnacle Choir" !!!
Oooh, I like the indirect polygamy reference!
Leave it to you to find the obscure references!
Charline..."Mogan Tabarnacle Choir". That's a hoot! **many chuckles**
Morgan..."polygamy reference". There's a writer's strike in Hollywood. You two should send in some scripts.
That sympathetic illness theory you often hear about is again proven to be true. I'm home, sick (rotten cold and sore throat) and very tired also. I'm smiling only because I know YOU are. Bet I'm better before you. I've had 22 hours sleep in the last two and a half days... PLUS ten hours last night. I have a feeling you had no more than 12 hours in four days. There's a chance you forgot to sleep all together.
Rest lots, my dear.....Mom
Ok, that's just plain hilarious. Good job on finding the you tube video to go along ....I have heard of the Ice-hotel...ther eis one gigantic one in Norway too, i think.
Smiling is a good sign!
Mom, what ever will you do???
Minka, it's in Sweden I think. That said, I was there this past summer and saw no evidence of it at all. So maybe Norway?
You Tube means nothing to me except that that video is back in my life. I loved it at 5 and if I can hang on just a little while, I'll love it at 40.
It's not on TV here, but I watch the Muppet Show regularly. Just go to You Tube and search "Muppet", "Swedish Chef", "Pigs in space", etc. and watch 5-6 shorts back to back. You can be 5 years old again any time you've got Internet and a moment.
I am insanely jealous! At least it's good to know Ice Bars truly exist and are not just advertising ploys. I'm saving every penny by drinking cheap vodka until I can get there!
